RunFor Might Not Be Up For This Challenge...

There are some running events that might be TOO much for me to handle.  I don't see myself ever qualifying for Boston (a fact I've grown comfortable with); I don't know if an ultramarathon would do me in; and I'm certain that the Krispy Kreme Challenge would make me hurt.

But I'm still thinking of doing it next year!

For a girl who has trouble eating a Clif Bar during a run, the Krispy Kreme Challenge might be the hardest race I could train for in 2011.  Started in Raleigh, NC in 2004, the challenge involves running 2 miles to a Krispy Kreme store, eating a full one dozen Krispy Kreme doughnuts, and then running the 2 miles back to the start line.  Oh yeah, and they want you to do this in ONE HOUR!  My stomach just lurched thinking about it.  Still, it's for a good cause as the proceeds benefit the NC Children's Hospital and it might just be the pinnacle of my Southern living experience.

But it's not just the South that loves to combine excessive eating and running!  A friend of mine mentioned the Burrito Mile the other day and opened up a whole new world of possibilities for how to torture my stomach.  Started in 2006 in Maryland, the Burrito Mile has evolved into a relay event with four runners completing one leg, downing a huge Chipotle burrito (or similar type burrito), and then tagging the next runner to start.  This event has evolved into the Burritolympics and now has a governing body and rule book for anyone wanting to host their own event!  The rule reading alone will have you laughing out loud!

Am I tough enough for either of these challenges? We'll find out...

Are you??  Are there other food/running combinations that I'm missing?  Tell me all about them please!!

It's not an official race, but the Charlotte Runners Meetup Group is hosting the 3rd Annual Irish Beer Mile on March 18th.  Racers must drink 12 oz. of beer (or rootbeer) every 400 meters (4 beers total).  Ouch!

That sounds like an excellent idea! I'll see you on the 18th!  :-)
